>Atvrcr – The Best Game Characters of the Decade

Yes I’m late, sue me. I had the angriest Christmas Eve of my life. You’ll see a rant about that in a few so yeah.
This list is extremely hard to put together because I can guarantee I will be like ah shit, I forgot about that person >.<
In no particular order as usual

Luca Truelywaath (Ar Tonelico II)
Rita Mordio (Tales of Vesperia)
Yukari Takeba (Persona 3)
Edy Nelson (Valkyria Chronicles)
Liliane Vehlendorf (Mana Khemia 2)
Ayane (Dead or Alive)
even though she was introduced before 2000, she is still going to be in this list so deal with it
Yuri Lowell (Tales of Vesperia)

Fuck you, seriously man, fuck you.

>Otaku Supreme – Best Anime of 2010

>Well I seen that everyone else has given their Top !0 Anime of 2010, so I guess now it is MY turn right? I decided to do this at 10:53 PM on December 24th. Waiting up for Santa y’all. Though he has already came for me. Got a Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Blu-ray pack. It was such a nice gift that I soooooo didn’t pick out myself. So, I guess you guys don’t care about this upper part. I guess i will just get right to it then.

And the winner is…

This was an Awesome show. It kept me entertained til the very end. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me mad. It made me happy. This show did it all for me this year. It was only shown once a month and I could hardly wait for it. Not only did it have some good animation to it, it also what I would have to consider one of the best soundtracks. It made epic moments seem epic and it made sad moments seem sad. Of course, I’m always a sucker for loli type characters. So of course I fell for Togame. And so, as per Togame’s wish, “CHEERIO!!!”

Honorable Mentions:

Hime Chen! Otogi Chikku Idol Lilpri
A change of pace is nice once in a while right? Well that’s exactly what this show is to me. It is still on-going right now, so I know there are some fun times ahead. But seriously, the songs are addicting and never leave my head. I catch my self humming to, or singing out loud, the songs that are on here. It is a good thing to watch. So watch it.

Well… if you can’t guess why I liked this one, then you don’t deserve to watch anime. This had some good animation, (some of which could only be seen on the Blu-ray editions. This is a good anime with a strong ero that doesn’t take it into hentai. Though some people would disagree, I thought that it had a good plot with Keita trying to get into school and his “sisters” helping him along the way.

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimou
I haven’t finished this one yet, but I will next week and I found this one really good also. I think that it has a pretty good plot to it and the characters are memorable. I also really liked the soundtrack to this one. OP and ED music to an anime are really important to me  Sometimes it will even be a deal breaker for me. And I enjoyed the OP to this anime very much.
Naruto (Pain Arc)
Whatever. Give me crap if you want, but I am and probably always will be a narutard. I really enjoy this anime very much. But the Pain Arc came and I was super excited. The soundtrack for this arc was awesome. The animation was also awesome, (except episode 167, I hated how they did that.) They did all the right things for this arc (almost) and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Worst Anime:
And the Golden Mullet goes to…..
Angel Beats
I seriously could not get into this show at all. It was boring as hell and I can’t believe I actually finished it. The music sucked and it did not pique my interest in the least. The only thing this show had that was anywhere near good was the OP, albeit only the first 10-15 seconds of it, but it was good nonetheless.
So did I make you angry with the last one??? GET OVER IT! Crap is crap no matter how much you shine it. So I hope you enjoyed my list. I also had many others as top contenders, but other members have already posted them so I will not re-post them here. Anyway, enjoy your Christmas as it is Christmas over here right now. Bye-nii!!

>Pandadice – The Best Anime of 2010

Alright, I decided it was time for me to add my post about the best anime of 2010. I dunno what to really write, so I’ll get right to it.

First just gonna throw in this disclaimer atv and onion used. -The views expressed in this post do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Atv-Oni-Ota.-

So you have an idea of what I’m selecting my favorite from, I’ll post what titles from this year I’ve watched:

Angel Beats, Attraction (an interactive video/website by Studio 4°C/Koji Morimoto), Baka to Test, Black Rock Shooter, Boku Otaryman, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Darker than Black OVA, Durarara (first 12 episodes), Hanamaru Kindergarten, Highschool of the Dead, Honey Tokyo, House of Five Leaves, Je T`aime (a music video directed by Mamoru Oshii), Katanagatari (first 3 episodes), Kurenai OVA, Ladies versus Butlers, Lupin: The Last Job, Madobe Nanami (I wasn’t gonna put this, but AniDB and MAL both count it as an OVA :\), Magic Kaito, Omamori Himari, Ookami Kakushi, Shoka, Sleeping with Hinako, Sora no Woto, Tatami Galaxy, Time of Eve movie, Unlimited Blade Works, and Welcome to the Space Show.

So, out of these titles I’ve chosen my top pick for 2010. It wasn’t a very hard pick, and I’m actually having more trouble deciding on some runner-ups xD.

The Winner is

The Tatami Galaxy
(Youjohan Shinwa Taikei)

Without a doubt, I thoroughly enjoyed Tatami Galaxy more than any other show. It honestly transcends its existence as a late night anime in Japan. It’s not just another show, one which happened to avoid tired tropes and old cliches, no, it’s solid entertainment, and true art.

The style is way unconventional, hardly resembling the expected “anime” visual. And that may have turned many people off. However, I loved that aspect about the show. But it’s not just the visual style’s “difference” that made me choose Tatami Galaxy. It’s just an all-around good watch, with an excellent and fulfilling conclusion. It uses the old narrative of reliving your life/specific times indefinitely, but it approaches it in a new and inventive way. It’s really intelligent and the whole series sets out to make a statement, which is pretty much unheard of these days.

Some people couldn’t get into the visuals, others thought the heavy dialogue was too hard to navigate. I’m not a writer, I’m not a critic or reviewer, it’s been 5 months since I watched the series. But I got so much enjoyment out of it, I definitely recommend it to everyone, and without hesitation rank it as the best title of 2010. (eh, I’m just a Yuasa fanboy m(_ _)m)

Now time to post some Runner Ups:

For a singular half-hour OVA, there isn’t much there to judge it by. But the 30 minutes that are there are pretty sick. The story isn’t anything to talk about, but thats okay cause this OVA was all about the visual style. The animation all has this overly-sketchy, grotesque roughness to it. It’s really awesome. It was kinda like Windy Tales or Kemonozume, only more rough. Which I think is awesome, because those are some of my favorite titles for their visuals. So yeah, even though the story is sub-par, it’s only 30 minutes so what more do you expect? Plus it’s a period piece, so the setting is cool. All in all a quick, easy and entertaining watch.

Angel Beats

Guess I’ll throw this one in as a runner up. It was sweet, much better than I was expecting it to be. It was really crafted as an emotional roller-coaster, which I’m not so sure I liked. It seemed like one minute I was supposed to be laughing, but then the next I was supposed to feel sad for a character, so I ended up just not really doing anything either way. Now, thats not to say I didn’t laugh at all, oh I definitely found parts funny, and I definitely found parts dramatic or felt for the characters. But overall it took some getting used to and caught me off guard. I spent more time thinking “is this a set up to a joke for me to laugh at, or is it building a dramatic scene?” rather than me being in-the-moment of the show. Also, Tachibana is the biggest moeblob I’ve seen lately, which was awesome. I had forgotten how awesome moeblobs are.

Sora no Woto was good, Welcome to the Space Show was good, Ladies vs Butlers was good, Time of Eve movie was good but it was basically just the ONA. Not much else was really that noteworthy. The Studio 4C stuff, Honey Tokyo and Attraction, were both interesting, but not the studios best work.

Worst title –

Sleeping with Hinako

Was that that big of a surprise? I’m not sure why I watched this, but I did. 40 minutes of a chick occasionally rolling over while she sleeps in her bed. No one, ever, watch this. I don’t care how into fanservice you are, it’;s not worth it. Just go watch a hentai or something, seriously. It’s not even worth watching ironically with friends or anything. I mean, maybe the first like 4-5 minutes would be funny, but definitely not the whole thing.

Omamori Himari

I didn’t think this was that bad for the first couple of episodes. But by like the 3rd or 4th I couldn’t stand watching it. But I kept on watching, I don’t know why. I don’t know why I expected anything different to happen in the series after what I had seen in the first 3 or 4 episodes, but for some reason I thought “maybe it’ll get better,” but it only got worse. Even as far as harems go, there are many better titles than this. And definitely don’t bother if you’re in it for the fanservice, because that’s pretty minimal here.

(yay, no Shaft in the worst list orz)

There are still a ton of titles I’m looking forward to from 2010 though. Here’s a quick list of what else I wanna watch:

Midori-Ko, Redline (2009, but I still wanna watch it. plus it hasn’t seen it’s commercial dvd release yet, afaik), Trigun movie, Colorful (2010), Umi Kara no Shisha, Mardock Scramble, Hen Zemi, Iron Vendetta (this isn’t even out yet. probably gonna be a 2011 title), Kuragehime, Occult Academy, Amagami SS, Shiki, K-ON!!, Giant Killing, Rainbow, Working, Ironman, The World God Only Knows, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, and My Little Sister can’t be this cute.

Maybe out of this list I could find something that I’d place above Tatami Galaxy? Dobut it, but it’s totally possible. I look forward to viewing these titles someday.

Not sure I’m gonna participate in any of the other posting categories.. happy holidays people.

>Onion – Top 10 Anime Characters of the Decade

>    Alright everyone, here’s my list of my favorite characters of the decade. This list is in no particular order. Ahh, that’s right. Yes, I made a list. Picking a favorite character is hard, and I just couldn’t decide. I figured it’d be much easier on my conscience if I just made a list.

So, enjoy the list and be sure to comment! Remember, Onion is accepting of all comments, and he even tolerates people saying mean things. 😀

Louise – Zero no Tsukaima

Louise is just Louise! She’s one of my favorite characters of all time, and really one of the only tsundere type characters I’m attracted to. Her hair is awesome, she controls amazingly powerful magic, she’s a noble, and she’s super cute. What’s not to like?

Sakurai Tomoki – Sora no Otoshimono

Never before have I seen such a perverted man worthy of praise. Sakurai Tomoki is one of my favorite male leads ever. But not just because of his pervertedness alone. It’s the way he presents the pervertedness. Sometimes he’ll have flashbacks of conversation with his Grandfather about a valuable life lesson in pervertedness, other times he’s able to take a beating directly to the groin with a handsomely straight face on. And he still does a good job at being serious when the mood call for it. Also, his chibi form and his laugh are the most epic I’ve ever seen/heard. An all around amazing character if there ever was one.

Lelouch Lamperouge – Code Geass

One of the most powerful characters of the decade. He can control anyone’s thoughts and actions jsut by commanding them. That is why he’s made my list; never before has there been a character so smart with such desire to rid the world of something he hates for the sake of family.

Haruhara Haruko – Furi Kuri

A crazy character. She’s an alien apparently, although noone can really be sure. Even though she does fly away on her Vespa at the end of the series. She’s one of the most confusing characters I’ve ever seen. Also, she’s quite appealing as well.

Sawatari Mitsuki – He is My Master

No contest! mitsuki is my Waifu after all. That hair. That deliciously evil personality. That Maid Outfit! Those eyes! She’s been my favorite character since I’ve started watching anime, so she had to be on my list.

Furude Rika – Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

Trapped in time. Probably hundreds of years old. She’s a loli with an awesome story and a super cool green dress. Rika’s background story and her quest to escape the time loop is primarily what makes her such an appealing character to me. Not to mention that delicious square cut hair.

Nagi – Kannagi

Another great character because of her quirky and funny attitude more than anything. She doesn’t have much of a background story, but her comedy still pushes her ranking way up for me. She’s amazingly cute and her laziness is a big turn on.

Kemeko – Kemeko DX

One of the most psychotically, random characters in history. She commits some of the most crazy things throughout the series and she never lets things get stale.

Rebecca Miyamoto – Pani Poni Dash

A loli genius half teacher with an attitude. Nothing more to be said. She’s too epic to describe.

Inami Mahiru – Working!!

A favorite character of many, I’m sure. And she deserves it. Her constant shyness and her androphobia make her a very lovable character.

Well, that’s my list! Did I leave someone out? Do I have someone in here who really doesn’t deserve it? Let me know in a comment!

>Atvrcr – The Best Games of 2010

>Before I start let me make this clear, all games featured in this list are based on US release dates.

The views and opinions expressed in this post do not necessarily reflect the views of Atv-Oni-Ota blah blah blah
I’ve played plenty of great games this year so it was a hard choice. You may notice that there are no FPS or racing games in this list. Let me get this out of the way first, if you say were is my Call of Duty or where is my Fallout… move the f*ck on, you aren’t going to find those in this here list.
Anyways lets get on with this thing.

1.Resonance of Fate
This game was absolutely amazing! Yes the game itself pretty simple as far as you go here and do this, then go here and do that, but the battle system is amazing. The characters were interesting, and although the story isn’t exactly totally engulfing, it is indeed enough to keep you interested. I give this the top spot because I thoroughly enjoyed every second while playing this game. It’s different, it was a gamble, and Tri-Ace lemme tell you what, it payed off.
2.Valkyria Chronicles II
I loved Valkyria Chronicles on PS3, so when I heard about this PSP sequel I was both excited and disappointed. Excited because more VC is awesome, disappointed because it’s on the PSP. So did the PSP gimp this game to make it not as enjoyable? Not by any means. It’s awesome to have VC on the go! Sure the story isn’t nearly as good as its PS3 predecessor but it is still amazing. If you have a PSP then go get this game now!

3.BlazBlue Continuum Shift
The best fighter out there has a sequel. Some small tweaks and some new modes make it even more amazing. The story is awesome, and yes it actually has a story. Go buy this people!
4.Atelier Rorona
Calm and relaxing, fun and entertaining. Rorona is awesome, the characteres are amusing, the game is good. If you want a plot heavy game then go somewhere else, but trust me this is enjoyable!
5.Agarest War
Hmm the naughty edition ftw! Oh and if you’re one of those people who are all like “this just uses fanservice to draw in the horny basement dwellers” then gtfo. Guess what!? This game is actually good! Battle system is good, nothing new but its solid. This game is essentially a grind fest but no so much as Cross Edge. You should definitely pick this up and put some nice hours into it.
-Worst of 2010-
As Requested by Tonkun
Final Fantasy XIII
Ok lets face it, this game is either heavily defended or heavily bashed. It looked beautiful, the battle system was alright, and the story was meh. Did I hate this with a passion? No. Did it meet my expectations? No. I both loved it and hated it. The reason that this is the worst game of the year for me is the fact that I felt the least overall satisfaction when I played it.
